2008, Dnepropetrovsk, Ucraine
Located at the end of the city’s main thoroughfare, Karl Marx Avenue, on an artificial site built in the 70s over the Dnieper during the Soviet period, this mixed-use complex includes a hotel, a shopping and entertainment mall, restaurants, bars, exhibition spaces, a health club and spa, a yacht club, marinas, sports facilities and gardens. The project articulates the encounter between the city and the water, enhancing the layout of the historical Victory Jetty with a rhythmic succession of horizontal and vertical objects. The height of the buildings respects the panoramic views from the Monument to Eternal Glory and an intermodal link to the historical thoroughfare is proposed. The project includes a point of light in the form of a lighthouse, which provides an aesthetic, spiritual component related to the history of Dnepropetrovsk.
