This former industrial building takes on the unique proportions of a basilica in its cross-section, revealing three distinct entities of equal length in one structure. Though it’s been renovated to accommodate the media outlet Economia, the building’s contemporary version remains a vast hall whose entire length can be discovered by sight. From the inside, the immense volume can be grasped in its totality, with no added partitions to block the view. Used as an open space, the design and allocation of more restricted work areas is determined by low furnishings that don’t obstruct visibility. The original metal structure was kept and is now displayed as part of the décor, adding to the space’s immaculate industrial atmosphere. Today it’s been restored and painted white; the structure adds to the outline of the space, and its rhythm forms a collection of luminous metallic ridges.

Two symmetrical stairways located on either side of the building provide access to the mezzanines, which shelter the most intimate work areas. The proportions of the original façades have been preserved, while large openings have been pierced through to bring the interiors extra light.

The Taller’s 4600m² design takes advantage of the structure’s full height—18m along the aisle—and includes two mezzanines overlooking the main central space, which accommodate meeting rooms and the administration area.

The building houses the headquarters of a newspaper and an auditorium for theatre and musical performances, with a capacity of 3000–4000 people, designed to accommodate a wide variety of shows.

An open-plan floor plate of 1800m² provides flexible office space that can be expanded by adding a new floor to the existing structure. The project will further provide 5000m² of administration and conference space for 2000 people.
